Mom Is Doing Great!

My Mom made a miraculous recovery and went home from the hospital yesterday (Tuesday)! Pretty much from the time she got out of surgery on Thursday through most of the day Saturday, she did and said some pretty interesting things. Although the nurses and doctors were attributing it to the pain meds, several of us kids were pretty disturbed. They operated on her heart, not her brain and she was very out of it. By Saturday night though, everything changed. When I talked to my Mom on the phone on Monday, she said she just woke up and suddenly everything was back to normal. She doesn't remember much from the few days before then, but she also said she wasn't in any pain (which was a relief to hear!). To hear her talk now...she sounds SO good! She says she hasn't had this much energy in years and I believe it! My oldest brother and his wife are with her in Toledo now and helped her get settled in at home. They will be with her through this week and then my sister arrives this weekend to take the next few days. Obviously my Mom has a ways to go in terms of her recovery, but we are seeing so many positives as a result of all of this! Plus, my siblings now have some hilarious stories to tell her about all of the crazy things she said when they were keeping her "comfortable" post op! HA!

Yay! Happy to hear she is going great! And yes, narcotics tend to make a lot of people act very strange after surgery. Sounds like she made a speedy recovery! :)
