Afraid Of Dogs?

Yesterday we went to our friends John and Lisa's for dinner. They have a Chihuahua named Kokanee and a dog (not sure what breed exactly...) they are fostering named Duckling, who they call "Duck" or "Ducky". Needless to say this does not help us keep things straight in Lili's brain. She knows what a duck is and can point to one, but now there's a PUPPY that people are calling Ducky?!?!? That's a lot for a little one to comprehend. The funniest part about our visits is that Lili is deathly afraid of "Kokie" and "Duck", as she calls them. No, she wasn't afraid of our 60 lb English Bulldog or our 65 lb Pitbull Mix, but she's afraid of a Chihuaha and a dog that looks like a miniature Lab/Golden Retriever, who is still a puppy. If they come anywhere near her, she jumps and starts shaking and grasping frantically at the pant legs of the person closest to her. I find it hysterically funny, though I'm sure to her, these are people-eating monsters coming to take her away. At one point everyone was yelling for Duck to get the ball and all of a sudden Lili yells, "Duck! Bow!" (she can't say L's yet so ball sounds like bow...as in bow-wow-wow!). Duck hears Lili call to her and next thing you know she's racing over to her, causing Lili to screech and run. I don't think she understood that he would come when she called!

Aside from the dog drama, we had a great time. Lisa's Mom was in town, so it was nice to see her and to have her see the kids. Will got to be our "centerpiece" at dinner (he loves to sit on the table in the Bumbo...though you really can't see that in this particular pic) and Lili wreaked havoc throughout the house...........she was pretty interested in the kid's lacrosse sticks, so I wonder if sports are in her future? That would come as a total shock to me with my own lack of coordination, but hey...everything about motherhood is a shock!
