Drew's parents came for a visit over Thanksgiving and it was so good to see them. We don't see enough of Drew's family or mine, so when we do finally get to spend time with someone, it is extra special! With the kids being a little older, we saw how much more it meant to them as well. We started talking about Grandma and Grandpa coming a couple of weeks before they actually got here. The first night that I mentioned it to Lili she got SO excited, that she threw a holy major fit when I explained that no, they couldn't come to our house RIGHT.NOW. She's still learning the concept of time...and waiting...and patience... That night, she wanted nothing except Grandma and Grandpa to come and play with her right that very minute. I tried not to bring it up again for awhile, but a few days later Lili asked again when HER Grandma and HER Grandpa were going to be here. Finally the time came for them to arrive and Lili was bouncing off the walls...asking just about every 5 seconds when they were going to get here. Of course the first thing Lili did when they walked in the door was show them her toys...and ask Grandma to play blocks. Lucky Grandma!
The kids also conned her out of all of her loose change...as well as some bills. I'm not sure how much Grandma lost in the deal, but I saw quite a bit coming out of her purse and into their piggy banks. The funniest part to me is that they have no idea what 'money' does. They know what it looks like and they know that it goes in their piggy banks...but that's about it. We've never really talked to them about using money to buy things. I'm purposely leaving that out of conversations for now. It amazes me that they still get so excited about it and yet to them, it doesn't 'do' anything! They hit Grandpa up a little while later too!
After bath on the first night, both of the monkeys wanted Grandma to wrap them up like babies and hold them. Of course she did...which they found hysterical...
I made Grandma and Grandpa pose for a few pics. Grandpa pretended not to be thrilled, however I can see through that tough exterior of his. His son inherited the same thing. They are both softies inside!
Despite the long distance and infrequent visits, Lili acted as though she saw them every day.
She absolutely ADORED her Grandma and wouldn't give her even a minute to herself the entire time they were here. 'Grandma! Come play with me!', 'Grandma! Look at me!'...
One of the days they were here we took a trip to Fleet Farm. You know, the store that has everything...including the stuff you wouldn't expect to see there? Lili had fun hanging out in one of the ice houses that were set up.
Will had fun just being himself...CRAZY!
He is really talking a lot now and loves pointing out X-mas lights, snowmen, etc. He gets the cutest little grin on his face!
Lili attempted to push Will around in the cart, which didn't last long as she crashed into many a display... It was a good time and got us all out of the house for a bit!
Another fun thing that we discovered was the game 'Elefun'. Lili got it for her 3rd birthday this past summer, but it took us until now to purchase batteries for it. I was wondering how it would work and if a 3 year old could actually do it, but lo and behold...they can! Basically there is a blue plastic elephant that sits on the floor and has a fan in it. When you turn him on, he has a 4 foot trunk that shoots up into the air and sprays out 'butterflies'. Each kid has a little net and is supposed to catch the butterflies. As you can see, Will just ran around like a maniac with his net...
Lili took the game pretty seriously though and was determined to catch her some butterflies. I thought they would come out too fast to catch, but the fan really isn't strong, so they just sort of float out of his trunk.
Every time she caught one she was SO proud of herself!!
Another fun thing that we did as a family was have an early X-mas. The grandparents never get to see the kids open the gifts they send, so we thought it would be nice to have a mini-Xmas celebration a little early. Will got a baby doll and absolutely loved it. He kept calling it, 'My baby! My baby!'.
Lili got a set of Tinkerbell dolls, which she is obsessed with. She takes off all their tiny shoes...puts them all back on....takes them all off again...puts them all back on...screams when Will comes near her, in fear that he will take them from her...never a dull moment!

Another gift that Lili received was the LeapFrog Tag. Grandma showed her how to use it and she's been reading lots of books with it ever since!

That is such a sweet post:) I always think the same thing when Jackson sees his grandparents (which like you guys, is not often). He takes to them instantly as if he sees them everyday. So cute!!
